The Time Paul Thomas Anderson Responded To Me On Twitter

An amazing thing about the internet is how much smaller is seems to have made the world. Over the years I’ve interacted with the most random people ever: Henry Winkler (when he first joined Twitter in 2011 I was one of the first people he tweeted at), Robert Rodriguez (as part of promotion for one of the Machete movies he went on webcam and talked to fans), and Charlie Sheen at one point during his winning days, etc.

As a guy seriously interested in filmmaking, one of my heroes is unsurprisingly Paul Thomas Anderson. He’s a living legend to most people that love movies. PTA might very well be the Orson Welles of our time; There Will Be Blood is like Citizen Kane in that it will probably stand the test of time as one of the greatest movies ever made in the next 100 years. For the next generation, hearing about There Will Be Blood being “the perfect film” will be annoying to them like Shawshank Redemption is to us now.

As part of promotion for Phantom Thread, PTA answered questions from fans on Reddit and Twitter. He told me to find a way to make whatever I’ve written, and I think it’s pretty solid advice. I’m posting this so I never forget about it. It has inspired me since it happened earlier this year, and who knows…..it might inspire someone else out there.
